Porcelain veneers are an increasingly popular way to improve the appearance of your teeth and provide a naturally-looking smile. They are a thin layer of porcelain that is designed to fit over the surface of the tooth. As well as helping to protect the surface of the tooth from damage, they disguise imperfections such as gaps, stains and unevenness.
Crowns are fixed devices that are cemented onto existing teeth or implants. They are used to entirely cover or “cap” a damaged tooth or cover an implant. In addition to strengthening a damaged tooth, crowns can be used to improve a tooth’s appearance, shape, alignment and dental occlusion (bite). Gaps left by missing teeth can cause the remaining teeth to shift, which can result in a bad bite. Crowns help prevent this from happening.
